Its hard to be frugal and Gluten Free!

Ok, so in my last post I told you about finding a Gluten free all pupose flour.  It worked great but at 1lb for $7 that will be hard to justify everytime I want to bake.....which let me tell you is pretty darn often!!! just ask my daughter :)  So I had a choice......either find a cheeper altenative or go on a sweets diet and well....hhmmm what to do?  Cheeper alternative!! :)

I have gotten out my" google pages" :) and got to researching how I could make my own blend.  I found some on Food.com and found a great resource at gluten free cooking school.  The latter is a great little blog with lots of info....if you haven't seen it you should give it a look!  Back to what I found.....all the blends I found seemed to be quite different so I am going to give them a try and give my take on how they work.  I know I won't like anything with a soy flour, it just has a very "green" taste to it I have also heard it discribed as metallic, either way its not a flour for me.

Some flours are not as available so I have to look around to see what recipe I will be able to make easy. Also my 2 biggest requirements - taste and dollar!  To accomidate my very frequent baking fits I have to find the most economical all purpose blend that I can.

If anyone has a recipe they would like to post or have me try let me know I would love to hear form you!

I will be posting my results as I get them done......can't wait! See you soon!
